CMA awards nominations - my thoughts

I'm always interested to see the nominations for the CMA awards and always try and work out who I think is most likely to win. I came fairly close to getting every winner right last year so I thought I'd suggest my winners again this year....

Entertainer Of The Year
Jason Aldean
Kenny Chesney
Brad Paisley
Blake Shelton
Taylor Swift

Predicted winner = Kenny Chesney
Chesney has just come off the back of a huge tour and a successful album with "Welcome To The Fishbowl". Brad Paisley is a strong possibility for this but I feel Kenny Chesney will win out.

Female Vocalist Of The Year
Kelly Clarkson
Miranda Lambert
Martina Mcbride
Taylor Swift
Carrie Underwood

Predicted winner = Carrie Underwood
This may be a difficult group. I don't think Kelly Clarkson will stand a chance against such country heavyweights. I would love Martina Mcbride to win but realistically I think Carrie Underwood is the most likely as "Blow Away" is a huge album and she has had more publicity throughout the year.

Male Vocalist Of The Year
Jason Aldean
Luke Bryan
Eric Church
Blake Shelton
Keith Urban

Predicted winner = Eric Church
Eric Church may be a bold prediction however he has had a very strong year and has more than enough skills to challenge any of these artists.

New Artist Of The Year
Lee Brice
Brantley Gilbert
Hunter Hayes
Love And Theft
Thompson Square

Predicted winner = Love And Theft
Whilst I think any of these artists are viable winners I think Love And Theft will win after their recent chart success and the strength of their fan base. I would love to see this, they are a very strong duo and their single "Angel Eyes" is a very competent debut.

Vocal Group Of The Year
Eli Young Band
Lady Antebellum
Little Big Town
The Band Perry
Zac Brown Band

Predicted winner = Little Big Town
This is definitely going to be the toughest group of the night. All of the groups have done well this year, however I feel Little Big Town definitely deserve it after all their success.

Vocal Duo Of The Year
Big & Rich
Love And Theft
Sugarland
The Civil Wars
Thompson Square

Predicted winner = Sugarland
Love And Theft have had a very strong year however I don't feel they are likely to win this. Sugarland's "In The Hands Of The Fans" tour has been incredibly successful and even though they haven't released new music it might just be enough to give them the award.

Single Of The Year
"Dirt Road Anthem" Jason Aldean
"God Gave Me You" Blake Shelton
"Home" Dierks Bentley
"Pontoon" Little Big Town
"Springsteen" Eric Church

Predicted winner = "Springsteen" Eric Church
The chart success of this song puts it as a very strong contender. The other songs are older and I feel "Pontoon" is more likely to win Video Of The Year.

Album Of The Year
"Chief" Eric Church
"Four The Record" Miranda Lambert
"Home" Dierks Bentley
"Own The Night" Lady Antebellum
"Tailgates & Tanlines" Luke Bryan

Predicted winner = "Own The Night" Lady Antebellum
Brilliant album full of a good mix of gutsy, upbeat songs and slower, more thoughtful songs.

Song Of The Year
"Even If It Breaks Your Heart" Will Hoge and Eric Paslay
"God Gave Me You" Dave Barnes
"Home" Dan Wilson, Brett Beavers and Dierks Bentley
"Over You" Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton
"Springsteen" Eric Church, Ryan Tyndell and Jeff Hyde

Predicted winner = "Over You" Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton
A beautiful song that definitely deserves an award.

Musical Event Of The Year
"Dixie Highway" Alan Jackson featuring Zac Brown
"Feel Like A Rock Star" Kenny Chesney (duet with Tim McGraw)
"Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die" Willie Nelson with Snoop Dogg, Kris Kristofferson and Jamey Johnson.
"Safe And Sound" Taylor Swift (featuring The Civil Wars)
"Stuck On You" Lionel Richie (with Darius Rucker)

Predicted winner = "Feel Like A Rock Star" Kenny Chesney (duet with Tim McGraw)
A really upbeat duet between two great singers. After the "Brothers Of The Sun" tour both Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw have been in the public eye a lot and their vocals merge effortlessly.

Music Video Of The Year
"Come Over" Kenny Chesney
"Over You" Miranda Lambert
"Pontoon" Little Big Town
"Red Solo Cup" Toby Keith
"Springsteen" Eric Church

Predicted winner = "Pontoon" Little Big Town
This is a very summery video and complements the upbeat song brilliantly.

Musician Of The Year
Sam Bush - Mandolin
Paul Franklin - Steel Guitar
Dann Huff - Guitar
Brent Mason - Guitar
Mac McAnally - Guitar

Predicted winner = Dann Huff - Guitar
Always hard to pick, I'm going by previous results.
